HOW READ?

November 14, 2025 by Carl Hanson

The question “Do you read me?” (in radio communication) may seem strange when what is really meant is “Do you hear me?” What the question literally relates to is the quality of the message transmission or radio reception; whether or not it is coming in loud and clear.

In the same way we might wonder how people read our life? What is the message coming through based on the manner in which we live and influence those around us? Though we are cautioned against judging a book by its cover — not judging others by mere appearances that could be misleading, but instead come to know them for their true nature below the surface — the actions of our life do tell a story and in some cases it is a story quite different than what might be verbally professed. Are we duly focused on living out the genuineness of Christian character? As we go about the activities of each day, is our life revealing the truth of God is foundational to our life and all that it is associated with?

In Paul’s second letter to Christians at Corinth he expressed. . .

“(1) Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? (2) You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. (3) And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” (2 Corinthians 3:1-3 ESV)

Paul’s two rhetorical questions would naturally have been answered with a “no”. Though there appeared to be some who questioned Paul’s apostleship, the transformation of the lives of these Christians in their belief and obedience to the Gospel message was the sign or seal of his apostleship. (1 Corinthians 9:2) They had become proof of the transformative power of the truth of Jesus which others could see in reading their lives.

Someone has said, “Remember you are known and read by everyone, so make sure your attitude and conduct are what you want people to see.” (original source unknown) As our life remains being transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2), may it be loud and clear it is because Christ has become foundational to our life presently and our hope eternally!

Have a great day LIVING THE CLEAR MESSAGE WE BELONG TO CHRIST!

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
