The abbreviation “IQ” is understood to stand for “Intelligence Quotient.” It is the measurement of intelligence based on the results of aptitude tests focused on various aspects of intellectual functioning. According to “IQ” standards, a score of 100 represents “average” intelligence. It is interesting to note, however, how some with very high “IQs” have difficulty functioning socially. There are also people who have a lot of knowledge, but seem to fail in properly understanding how to apply that knowledge to living. Paul even noted those who were always learning, but still unable to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:7)
Is there another “IQ” of greater significance than what is commonly noted through standard “IQ” tests? I submit to you that there is and I will refer to it as an “Ideology Quotient.” Have we associated the right ideology with our life? Have we sought it from the right source; the Author and Originator of all life?
In Psalm 119 we read. . .
“(97) Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. (98) Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. (99) I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. (100) I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.” (Psalm 119:97-100 ESV)
We have no slyer enemy than the devil, and it is God’s Word which will make us wise to see through His schemes and stick with His Will. Following the Will of God will in the end reveal we have lived with greater understanding than those with Master’s Degrees and PhD’s who deny His existence or there being any absolutes regarding right and wrong. Following the Will of God in all our actions of life will also bring wisdom beyond our years. In all our education, that which relates to God’s Will should not be neglected. If it is, we will merely become educated fools.
May we be certain we are gaining the right education so as to maintain the right ideology quotient for living our daily life. The higher education of God relates not just to this life, but also to the eternal life to come, for it is the Scriptures which make us wise unto the salvation (2 Timothy 3:15) we have in Christ. In this world such is an “IQ” well above average!
Have a great day GROWING IN THE GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE OF JESUS!
