When our Lord was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, Jesus responded to each of the three challenges on the foundation of, “It is written.” (Matthew 4:4, 7, & 10) For us also, what is written by God is the foundation on which we should stand and live and from which we should respond to the issues of life.
In a psalm focusing much attention on God’s commands, law, precepts, statutes, word, etc., we read. . .
“(89) Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” (Psalm 119:89 ESV)
Though we live in a world of shifting ideologies and standards, God’s word remains firmly fixed! As eternal as God is, so is His Word! It is firmly fixed above rather than being based on earthly or worldly wisdom and that is where our minds are to be set. (Colossians 3:2) With such a focus we will have the stability our life needs to sustain us now and ultimately bring us to God in the Heavenly realm above. In great contrast to the things of this realm that wither and fall (1 Peter 1:24), “the word of the Lord remains forever.” (1 Peter 1:25) Trusting Him, we have the hope of an eternity with Him.
Have a great day WITH THE FOCUS FIXED ON GOD AND HIS ABIDING WORD!
Carl
