KEEPING THE WAY PURE!

February 21, 2023 by Carl Hanson

[02/21/2023 “teEn-MAIL”]

We struggle to keep from doing what is wrong while desiring to do what is right and pleasing to God. It is the struggle of all humanity as Paul declared in his letter to the church at Rome where we read, “(23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. (Romans 3:23 ESV) Paul also noted the solution to this dilemma is by grace through the redemption of Jesus Christ by the power of His blood. (Romans 3:24-25) Still, there is need for maintaining a proper focus of heart and mind to keep our life walking on the pathway of God.

In acknowledging the struggle, what are the young to do? As the struggle is not new, neither is that question as we read. . .

“(9) How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.” (Psalm 119:9 ESV)

It is not by the advice of peers or in looking to the standards of the world, but by keeping in mind what God’s Word has declared that life is kept on God’s pure pathway. Time must be spent in the Scriptures to know what God’s Will is in order to then be guarded and guided by it! Therefore it is important to consider what most is being drawn into the mind to direct the life.

As this is significant to the focus of youth, it remains the need for any age as the psalmist also went on to state. . .

“(11) I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 ESV)

With God’s word taken in and stored up in the heart, the life is prepared for the wholehearted seeking of following in His commands. (Psalm 119:10) Storing up God’s Word serves to crowd out and leave no room for what is contrary to His Will and impure to thought and life. Young or old and anywhere in between, let God’s Word guard the life. Let it be stored up in the heart so as to come to mind anytime temptations or life distractions arise in an attempt to lead astray. May continual mindfulness of God’s Word keep us on His blessed pathway!

Have a great day PURELY PREPARED FOR PURPOSELY LIVE PLEASING TO GOD!

                        Carl

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
