KEY THOUGHT!

August 30, 2023 by Carl Hanson

I have pulled a key out of my pocket to open the door of one of our cars only to find it not fitting. I had pulled out the wrong key. Though the key to our house and the key to the church building look quite similar, it takes the right key to open the right place. As we consider life, are we understanding the right key to opening the right door? While many in this world think they have unlocked the door of enlightenment, they have actually entered a dark room. Jesus even accused leaders of that day of taking away the key of knowledge (Luke 11:52) and in effect shutting the kingdom of Heaven in peoples faces. (Matthew 23:13) Those who should have been directing the attention to the Messiah, neither accepted Him and His teaching nor encouraged others in that direction.

            Solomon urged. . .

“(10) Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. (11) I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. (12) When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble. (13) Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.” (Proverbs 4:10-13 ESV)

The New Living Translation reads, “(13) Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.”

Openness to the right instruction is key to the right knowledge on which to open the door to true life. Are we continuing to humbly remain open to the instruction of God’s Word? At a time when there were many who struggled with the teaching of Jesus (John 6:60) and decided to turn from walking with Him (John 6:66), let us consider Peter’s response when Jesus asked the disciples if they also wanted to go away. We read. . .

“(68) Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, (69) and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”” (John 6:68-69 ESV)

Yes, Peter knew the true key to life! May we remain open to the instruction of God’s Word and so continue viewing Jesus in this light as we continue following Him!

Have a great day KNOWING THE KEY TO LIFE PROVIDED BY GOD!

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
