Who has taught you to love? The world? The world’s affections often draw toward loving the wrong things. There are those who refuse to love the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10) but instead love falsehood. (Revelation 22:15) There are also those who love evil more than good. (Psalm 52:3; Micah 3:2) And the world’s inclination is often to love only those who love in return. (Matthew 5:46-47) We have received a higher calling than that.
Remember Jesus instructed. . .
“(44) But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (45) so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matthew 5:44-45 ESV)
Loving in such a way may not be the initial inclination of the heart, but it is how we are to choose to love. Loving as God would have us is a decision to do so. Are we not glad He has chosen to love us? May we also choose to love that the world may come to know us as His children.
Have a great day LEARNING TO CHOOSE TO LOVE!
