I love being out in nature hiking on trails through the woods, walking along rivers or streams, and moving up into the mountains. There are some places to which I love to return. However, I also love the adventure of hiking in new places where I get to wonder about what is around the next curve or over the next rise. And though there may be places to figure out how to cross where trails had been washed out or water crossings were necessary and must maintain a will to press on when climbing steeper terrain, it is all acknowledged as part of the adventure.
Is that not a picture of life and the journey from where we are to where God is leading? It has been said, “One thing is certain — when you trust God with the path of your life, not only will He prove to be trustworthy, but following Him will be a great adventure!” (Josh Lifford)
As I reflect on my life there have been many challenges and I am sure there will be others ahead. Still, I have safely made it to this point. However, I have also experienced the adventure of opportunities I had not imagined would come but found joy in what God was doing through them. Therefore, I believe there will be even more adventures ahead as I allow God to work in and through me until He brings me safely home.
David trustingly wrote in that beloved psalm. . .
“(1) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (2) He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. (3) He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (4) Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (5) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. (6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:1-6 ESV)
Though David did not always know what was ahead, he still found comfort under the watchful guidance of God. Are we growing to trust Him in such a way?
As Solomon urged. . .
“(5) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. (6) In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
Life’s journey — as awesome as parts of it may be — continues leading to even more awesome glory (i.e. Romans 8:18; 2 Corinthians 4:17-18) as we following on with God. May we find joy in the adventure as we trust God in guiding us along life’s path toward the eternity prepared for us!
Have a great day TRUSTING LIFE’S ADVENTURE LEADS TO EVEN GREATER WONDERS!
