It has been said, “Nothing should be out of the reach of hope. Life is a hope.” (Oscar Wilde)
Do we view hope as being within reach for ourselves and others? Where are we seeking it? It is God who provides the greatest hope we need; a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:3) In life, are we continuing to trust in that living hope?
In view of the reality that death is the destiny of all in this realm, Solomon wrote. . .
“(4) But he who is joined with all the living has hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” (Ecclesiastes 9:4 ESV)
In essence, Solomon noted that as long as there is life there is hope! Ongoing life provides the opportunity to duly respond to God and His Will. Each day God provides is a sign of His patience in providing the opportunity to repent and turn to Him. (i.e. 2 Peter 3:8-9) Therefore, before either the day of death or the day of the Lord’s coming (2 Peter 3:10), there remains God’s offer of hope.
As we continue turning our life toward walking with God, “as long as it is called ‘today’” (Hebrews 3:13) may we exhort and continue praying for others to turn from the deceitfulness of sin and accept the living hope God has provided through the Son! While there is life there remains the hope of doing so!
Have a great day LIVING IN THE HOPE OF JESUS!
