The Christian walk is characterized by many actions, experiences, and blessings. Some of these directly impact our own self while others impact the lives of others. Nevertheless, all of it can direct the focus toward the Lord and glorify Him. Today and over the next two days, let us consider three things characterizing the Christian life as noted by Paul in his first letter to Christians at Thessalonica.
Paul wrote. . .
โ(9) For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, (10) and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.โ (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 ESV)
First of all, life in Christ is a changed life. It is a life changed in the direction of its focus and movement. Though we might claim we have (and would) never be guilty of worshiping an idol, the reality is that whatever (or whomever) dictates our life choices and direction other than God has become our god. Before coming to Christ we were doing our own thing. In coming to Christ there was the need for repentance; a turning away from sin and our own desires and back toward God and His Will! In accepting the Sovereignty of Christ, we have died to self and now He is to have become our life. (i.e. Philippians 1:21; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:3-4)
In his second letter to Christians at Corinth, Paul stated. . .
โ(17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.โ (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)
Praise God for this changed life He has made possible through the reconciliation we have received in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:18) Life in Christ is new life now with the assurance of eternal life to come. May our life focus remain onward and upward in Christ!
Have a great day SURRENDERED TO TOTAL TRANSFORMATION IN CHRIST!
