Continuing in the passage we noted yesterday, consider a second aspect to characterize the Christian life as noted by Paul. We again read. . .
“(9) For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, (10) and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 ESV)
Life in Christ is a life of service! Jesus exemplified this manner of living Himself, even stating He came not to be served, but to serve. (Matthew 20:28) In our service to others we are actually serving the Lord. (Matthew 25:35-40) Our life in Christ is not merely marked by an abstaining from evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22) but also by the good works that were created in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10) If we are truly walking in the Lord’s steps (1 Peter 2:21), then the manner in which we live will, among other things, be marked also by generous and sacrificial service to the glory of God. May the servant qualities of Jesus be evident in our life!
Have a great day SERVING THE PURPOSES OF THE LIVING AND TRUE GOD!
