How many parents complain about their children not listening to them? We have a Heavenly Father Who can relate!
We see what the prophet Ezekiel was faced with where we read. . .
“(1) The word of the Lord came to me: (2) “Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house.”” (Ezekiel 12:1-2 ESV)
It is disheartening that so many in the world would refuse to listen to the Heavenly Father, but this was a charge pertaining to God’s own people. To refuse to listen is to be rebellious. (also Ezekiel 2:3) The prophet Jeremiah was faced with the same un-listening ears as he proclaimed the message of God. (Jeremiah 6:10; 7:26; 17:23; 25:4; 35:15; 44:5)
Even Jesus — in view of the unbelieving with whom He came face to face — quoted from Isaiah 6:10 in stating. . .
“(15) For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.” (Matthew 13:15 ESV)
Are our ears open? Are we listening? While assembling for Bible study and worship together, listen to the Word being studied and preached for the message of God contained therein! Each day as God’s Word is read, listen to the wisdom He offers for the day. Understanding how much God loves us and has our best and highest interests in mind, listen to the Fatherly guidance He provides for every day.
As Jesus urged. . .
“(23) If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Mark 4:23 ESV)
Yes, may we use the ears God has given us to His glory and for our good!
Have a great day BEING A HUMBLE RESPONSIVE CHILD OF GOD!
