There is a big difference between a loose tongue and a loosed tongue. A loose tongue can quickly get one into deep trouble while a loosed tongue can be one set free for significant acknowledgment. Consider the following.
In what may have been part of the early part of Jesus’ ministry and the beginning of attracting more attention, on one occasion we read. . .
“(31) Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. (32) And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him. (33) And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue. (34) And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” (35) And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. (36) And Jesus charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. (37) And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”” (Mark 7:31-37 ESV)
Though the deed was done off to the side, they were compelled to spread the news far and wide. Though Jesus had said to not go and tell, this man and the ones who witnessed the healing could not help but go and tell. What he had received was an amazing gift. The physical healing brought to his ears to hear and the tongue now loosed from its infirmity could not but tell.
As we consider what we ourselves have received from the Lord — complete forgiveness and eternal salvation through the power of His precious blood and the assurance of eternity He has gone to prepare — how can we keep quiet? Does the proverbial cat have our tongue?
Let us remember this about our Lord: “He has done all things well.” He has provided all that is necessary for our forgiveness and eternal salvation; every spiritual blessing is provided in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3) Rather than a loose tongue that would drive others away, may we have a loosed tongue drawing the attention of others to Jesus!
Have a great day WITH A TONGUE LOOSED FOR THE LORD!
