Have we ever gotten up in the morning with great intentions that for some reason faded as the day went on and what we had planned to follow through with did not happen? When it comes to getting all the errands or tasks accomplished that might have been planned for a day, if not all gets done it may still be okay. However, when we wake up in the morning with the prayerful focus on living to please God through the day, that is something of greater significance. What marks our zeal for God throughout the day? As the hours tick by, does it ever begin to diminish or get lost amidst the other stuff of the day?
Hosea was called by God as a prophet during a time of great unfaithfulness among God’s people. God’s love in relation to the nation’s unfaithfulness was illustrated through Hosea’s life (Hosea 1:2-9), and the warnings regarding it were made clear through his teaching (i.e. Hosea 2), while still holding out hope.
The problem at the time was that God and His Will in the relationship were not being loved as ought to have been. Recently reading through Hosea, I was struck by how the nation’s love was described where we read. . .
“(4) What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes early away.” (Hosea 6:4 ESV)
Such was a picture of love that quickly dried up and faded away. Rather than remaining, it dissipated or evaporated. Are we growing in and maintaining an abiding love for God?
John wrote. . .
“(16) So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16 ESV)
Have we come to know the love of God? If so, how could we cease to love Him and continue striving to glorify Him in our life? Let our love for God neither dissipate nor evaporate with the rising of the rest of the day’s activities. Instead, let us continue focusing on the Son and the blessings of life and life eternal provided through Him, so that our love for glorifying Him remains strong! May we be so saturated in the love of God that there is no way we would ever come up dry!
Have a great day WITH A LOVE FOR GOD THAT SOAKS IN DEEP WITHIN US!
