LOVE THE TRUTH!
For someone to be so bent on doing their own thing that God would give them over or up to it is a dangerous position to move toward. (i.e. Romans 1:24, 26, 28) In looking at life lived in this world, some are not truly seeking the truth but only for validation of the freedom to choose whatever they want to do. However, that would mean to accept the consequences for moving that direction; even consequences potentially of an eternal nature.
In Paul’s second letter to the church at Thessalonica, he noted those who “refused to love the truth and so be saved.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10) The consequence of that hard-hearted refusal was. . .
“(11) Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, (12) in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 ESV)
Rather than finding pleasure in the righteous will of God, these were noted as being allowed to continue down their chosen path of pleasure in unrighteousness. Now, before we think that doesn’t sound fair, let us understand such was not a God caused but a God allowed direction based of their own rebellious choosing!
In striving to keep our life on the right path of the truth of God, what should mark our desire and prayer? Drawing from the psalmist’s words in Psalm 119 we read. . .
“(29) Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law!” (Psalm 119:29 ESV)
Moving God’s direction means moving away from what is false and contrary to His righteous will! That is what repentance is all about; turning from sin and back toward God! Even for one who has long been walking away from God, the good news is that as long as there is life there is hope. (i.e. Ecclesiastes 9:4) Today is an opportunity to embrace the truth and continue walking in it! Therefore, let us love the truth God has so graciously revealed to us, and so be saved!
Have a great day TURNED FROM FALSE WAYS TO GOD’S WAYS!
Carl
