It has been said that misery loves company. It seems that “rebellion” does also. There are some things individuals would perhaps not do alone that they are ready to involve themselves with when in the company of others who are also willing. Youths will carry out malicious acts when joined by peers that they might consider unthinkable if acting alone. And because of a spirit of rebellion against what is right, misery comes to others and ultimately to themselves.
Solomon stated. . .
“(17) Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.” (Proverbs 10:17 ESV)
To listen to and follow the instruction of the Word helps keep us on the right path; “the path of life.” However, when that instruction and correction are ignored or rejected, the potential is for not only ourselves going astray, but for taking others with us as well.
Besides considering the company we keep, we should give thought to the company we lead. We are all examples to someone, whether that be bad or good. This is why we need to consider the actions of our life; they relate to more than just ourselves. Our choices have power to impact the lives of others either negatively or positively and as we journey through life there will be followers.
We may love company but let us be sure it is the right company. Our desire should always be to be in the company of the saved by living in accordance with the One Who has saved us. Accompanied by His Spirit through living out the truth of His Word, our life can be an example worth following. May we lead on in all that is right and true according to God’s Will!
Have a great day LOVING WHAT ACCOMPANIES OUR SALVATION!
