It is not wrong to mean what we say or do, but the manner in which we do so is important to consider. Even as we share with the world why we believe in Jesus as the reason for our hope, we are to “do it with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15 ESV) Paul also urged Christians at Ephesus to be mindful of speaking the truth in love. (Ephesians 4:15) Our attitude in association with our actions and speech is to be given due consideration in order to maximize their potential impact.
It has been said, “Say and do what you mean, but never say and do it meanly.” (Harvey Mackay)
Besides being mindful of speaking the truth in love, Paul went on to exhort. . .
“(31) Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. (32) Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV)
To meaningfully speak and do, we need to refrain from meanness. This is the kind of living which has potential for drawing others toward acknowledging God’s Will rather than driving them away. Having ourselves being the recipients of the blessing of God’s loving kindness through Christ (Titus 3:4-7), may we genuinely mean what we do and say by doing so with loving kindness to the glory of God!
Have a great day LIVING WITH A MEANING TO BE KIND!
Carl
