Sometimes my wife will ask, “How come you’re sitting all the way over there? Do I stink?” What that really reveals is her desire for me to sit closer; for there not to be distance between us. A refusal to move closer might give rise to questioning whether I want to be beside her or not and for her to even wonder about my love. Often what ends up occurring is the movement of both of us drawing closer.
James wrote. . .
“(8) Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:8 ESV)
Therein is pictured love in motion. Let us be encouraged that our drawing near to God is met by His drawing near to us. His great desire is for us to remain in a close relationship with Him. Therefore, knowing the heart God has for us — desiring us to be saved and not lost (i.e. 2 Peter 3:9) — may we continue drawing near with a right heart into the closeness of the relationship that transcends this life on into an eternity with Him!
Have a great day DRAWN NEAR AND DRAWN ONWARD!
Carl
