There are some who seem to merely let life happen; with no plan in mind they take things as they come. Then there are those who set their eyes on things (ideologies, goals, possessions, etc) and spend their life pursuing them; the things they want or think will make them happy. Some pursuits which seem to promise much are only found to leave one empty and unfulfilled. As we consider our own life, what are we seeking? What is it we are being drawn toward and into? Is it something firm in which our life can be securely anchored or is it drifting and ever changing?
In Isaiah we read. . .
“(18) For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the Lord, and there is no other. (19) I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I the Lord speak the truth; I declare what is right.” (Isaiah 45:18-19 ESV)
What God has spoken is not to tease. What He has declared is not to build up hopes and then dash them. This passage from Isaiah goes on to encouragingly read. . .
“(22) Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:22 ESV)
We live in a world of many gods who cannot save. It is God — the Creator of all — Who remains the One to seek and our seeking of Him and His Will shall not be in vain because He speaks the truth and all He has declared is right. Sincerely seeking Him will not be in vain.
Through Jeremiah God encouraged. . .
“(13) You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13 ESV)
Jesus also encouraged. . .
“(7) Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (8) For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 ESV)
This is the invitation for all! By the Divine providence of God, His Word has been preserved for us to read, study, and build our life upon. (i.e. Matthew 7:24-25) Let us take Him at His word for it is truth and it is right! To find the assurance of the best and most lasting of blessings and the most stable foundation on which to build up our life and rest our eternal hope, may we continue seeking God!
Have a great day ENCOURAGED IN TAKING GOD AT HIS WORD!
