For what do we have an appetite? Are there some things we just cannot stomach? Are there some things for which we hope to never develop a taste? Many in this world eat up and digest that which is unwholesome and unhealthy for life. In some ways the world has become skilled in taking what is rotten and mixing in enough goodness to spice it up that people indulge in what they otherwise would have thrown out. They may call it “hash” when it really should be called “trash”!
David prayed. . .
“(4) Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!” (Psalm 141:4 ESV)
Do we have an appetite for that which is wholesome and nourishing to our spiritual life? Have we “tasted the goodness of the word of God” (Hebrews 6:5) and developed an appetite for a second helping, and a third, and a fourth, etc.; just can’t help continuing to go back for more?
Peter urged. . .
“(2)Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation — (3) if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.” (1 Peter 2:2-3 ESV)
Once we have tasted the goodness, why would we be drawn to anything else? May we continue to feast on what God has prepared and spread before us!
Have a great day FEASTING ON GODLY CUISINE!
