As Paul reminded Christians at Corinth of God having led the nation of Israel safely through the sea and of His faithful provision as Moses led them through the wilderness, he also noted the unfortunate lack of trust of many and their desire for evil. (1 Corinthians 10:1-6) Paul then urged his readers not to be like them, but to instead turn away from idolatry, sexual immorality, and to not grumble against God as some of them did. (1 Corinthians 10:7-11) Paul went on to exhort and encourage. . .
“(12) Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. (13) No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:12-13 ESV)
Lest we think we have spiritually excelled and need not be cautious regarding potential temptation, we need to keep looking to God’s strengthening and guidance. Our desire is to be continually turned from our own desires to desiring to be pleasing to Him in all things. Therefore, when facing temptation may we trust God’s faithfulness and provision of a way of escape as we accept that pathway in moving from it toward where He faithfully leads!
Have a great day TRUSTING GOD’S FAITHFUL GUIDANCE!
