How do we want to be taught? What kind of instruction do we desire? Perhaps what we really need to come to grips with is this: what does it take to motivate us in what is right? Is it by gentle persuasion we are drawn to accepting and putting into practice what is right because the heart is open to it? Or does it take persistent pounding to get what we need to understand through our thick skull due to hard-headedness?
In one of David’s psalms, we read. . .
“(8) I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. (9) Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.” (Psalm 32:8-9 ESV)
Rather than a bridled beast forced to follow, are we remaining humble of heart to the loving guidance we need from God’s Word. Instead of needing to be prodded and pushed due to a stubborn will, let us live responsively to the Divine Will and loving direction of God as it is taught and as it is read. May we duly exercise our God-given intellect to accept the blessed instruction we need by keeping a humbled open heart before Him!
Have a great day DRAWN NEAR BY THE GENTLE LOVING GUIDANCE OF GOD’S WILL!
