Someone has said, “The GOD on the mountain is still God in the valley. When things go wrong, He’ll make it right. And the GOD of the good times is still GOD in the bad times. The GOD of the day is still God in the night.”
In the beloved shepherd’s psalm, David acknowledged God’s presence with him in the green pastures and beside the still waters (Psalm 23:2) as well as in the valley of the shadow of death. (Psalm 23:4) He was not forsaken. Through the varied circumstances and situations of life, David trusted in God’s goodness and mercy to continue following him all his days. (Psalm 23:6) This is the kind of expectation we are encouraged to hold in view of the Heavenly Father “with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” (James 1:17 ESV) He is the Constant to Whom our life can be securely anchored and sustained!
In the psalm where David comfortingly noted his awareness of God’s omniscience (139:1-6), omnipresence (139:7-12), and omnipotence (139:13-18), he stated. . .
“(11) If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” (12) even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.” (Psalm 139:11-12 ESV)
Whether it be in the darkness of night or with a view of living in a dark sinful world, we are always within the view of our God! Living under His watchful eye is not meant to be a threat, but a comfort. He Who does not slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:3-4) is ever watchful over us whether we are asleep or engaging in the activities of life.
So, how will we let that reality impact our life? Our God Who is always fully aware of what is going on in our life and all that is to come urges us to. . .
“(10) Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV)
Yes! Be still and know He is God! Be still and grow in trusting faith. Be still and go about the daily activities of life! Be still and show what living life with an awareness of God brings to life! Regardless of what we might be going through, may we constantly turn our focus toward the God Who is and knows!
Have a great day SHOWING WE KNOW THE ONE WHO KNOWS!
