It has been noted that “Problems are a part of life. Facing them is the art of life.” (posted by various sources) This idea has also been expressed, “Problems are a part of life. Dealing with them is the art of life.” (attributed to Phil Robertson)
Even Jesus was honest with His disciples regarding the challenges they would face because of their association with Him and the ministry of the Gospel in which they would engage. (Matthew 24:9; Mark 13:9-13; John 16:33) Though we can still experience abiding peace in Christ (i.e. John 14:27; John 16:33), it is clear problems of various sorts will remain a part of life. This being so, are we developing in the art of facing and dealing with them? Much of the art has to do with attitude and perspective.
James urged. . .
“(2) Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, (3) for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. (4) And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4 ESV)
The art of facing and dealing with the challenges of life is not by resting the focus on them, but in focusing on how they mature and strengthen us as we press on in spite of them. That is how joy can be maintained while enduring as we trust God to sustain us and carry us through them.
Remember and be encouraged by Jesus’ words. . .
“(13) . . . . But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Mark 13:13b ESV)
That is our Lord’s assurance! Understanding He has overcome the world (John 16:33), with Him we will also overcome. May we therefore experience His abiding peace as we joyfully press on!
Have a great day DEVELOPING THE ART OF LIVING BY FAITH IN JESUS!
