There are things which we may do by accident while other things are done on purpose. There are also things we may do for no particular reason while others are done with a definite purpose in mind. As we consider our life, are we living by accident, for no particular reason, or very purposefully? How does our purpose connect with our Creator’s as we remember our being is not merely some cosmic accident? (i.e. Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 139:14) Though a stroll on a sunny day with no real destination in mind may be enjoyable and even therapeutic, it is not the manner in which we are to walk through life!
Paul reminded Christians at Ephesus. . .
“(10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10 ESV)
Even before we came onto life’s scene, God had a plan in mind for us; His good works in which to be engaged. Though there may be many purposes to which our life can be given, our greatest life purpose and usefulness is to be considered in relation to God and His Divine Will! Are we seeking to understand His Will more fully so that we can fulfill the purposes for which He has given us life?
Paul expressed his prayerful desire for Christians at Colossae where we read. . .
“(9)And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, (10) so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:9-10 ESV)
The more we are filled with the knowledge of God’s Will, the more we will be enabled to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord by being fruitful in the good works for which we were created. As His workmanship, may our works be in accord with His purposes!
Have a great day PURPOSELY PURSUING GOD’S PLANNED PURPOSES!
Carl
