Yesterday we noted people calling on their “prayer warriors” for things going on in life. Persistence in prayer, including prayer for others, is something very godly in which we have the privilege from God to engage.
As we noted a “warrior” being broadly defined as “a person engaged in some struggle or conflict”, sometimes the conflict is within ourselves as to how or what to pray. That can be a real struggle. We may find ourselves wrestling with what words we ought to say or even struggle with what end ought to be prayed toward. This is where faith in God to work things out in accordance with His manner and timetable comes into play. However, though we might find ourselves at times wrestling with the words best to articulate what we feel, let us not allow that to keep us from praying. Remember, a “warrior” is one who heroically hangs in there and fights on!
Writing to Christians at Rome, Paul encouraged. . .
“(26) Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (27) And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (28) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:26-28 ESV)
I don’t know how the Spirit does that, but I am greatly encouraged the Scriptures tell me it is so! Despite the struggle we might have in articulating our prayers, we have help in making sense of them between what is going on within us and culminating in being in accord with the will of God. And though all things as we see them may not be good, God still has the power to work them for good.
Let us remember prayer is not about the speaking of many words (i.e. Matthew 6:7), but about sincerity and faith in the One Who knows even before we ask. (Matthew 6:8) Therefore, when words fail us, may we not fail to pray as we trust God’s Will to bring about His good!
Have a great day PERSISTENT IN PRAYER!
