On the cross, Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) As Peter later acknowledged, they and the leaders had acted in ignorance (Acts 3:17); at the time they truly did not realize what they were doing.
Forgiveness of such was the reality. Sometimes I am there with the same need. However, most of the time my prayer needs to be, “Father, forgive me, for I know what I am doing.”
In one of David’s psalms he wrote. . .
“(1) Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (2) Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. (3) For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. (4) For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. [Selah] (5) I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. [Selah]” (Psalm 32:1-5 ESV)
Yes, there is the blessing of which I must continually live mindfully. As I acknowledge my sin by confessing and turning repentantly from it, I will be blessed with the spiritual healing I need! May I remain honest about the truth of my need as I live to glorify the One Who knows everything going on even within me!
Have a great day KNOWING THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT IS TRULY GOOD FOR THE SOUL!
