I still have a box of notes and letters written to me by my wife before we were married. Among them are even messages written on college class notes. They were precious words reflecting that when we were not physically in the presence of each other, she was still thinking about me. Precious thoughts. Sweet mindfulness. Even now, after fifty years of marriage, her text messages convey her love.
As David wrote comfortingly of God’s mindfulness of him (Psalm 139), among his expressions we find. . .
“(17) How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! (18) If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:17-18 ESV)
The thoughts of God ought to be most precious to us. His thoughts preserved in the Scriptures speak of His precious promises and provide Divine guidance needed for the proper direction of our life. His thoughtfulness — which is so much higher than our own (i.e. Isaiah 55:8-9) — is intended to encourage us onward and upward so that we may live a blessed life now as we look toward the blessed eternity prepared for us. And how precious it should be to know His full awareness of all that goes on within us and around us. Like David, are we finding great comfort in God’s ever-abiding mindfulness of our life? He loves us and desires the best for us. May His great love for us compel us to continue responding lovingly and obediently in the abiding relationship stretching on into eternity!
Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY THE EVER-PRESENT MINDFULNESS OF GOD!
Carl
