Purposefulness indicates a sense of determination with a goal in mind. It is not the idea of leaving things to chance, but working out and providing the means for a specific result. Since that is what God is about — having not simply wound up this world and now sitting back to see how its activity turns out — we should view life with a sense of purpose.
God’s purpose in bringing life into existence was not just a physical, but a spiritual one. That ultimate purpose was “set forth in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:9) Some living in anticipation of that provision “rejected the purpose of God for themselves” (Luke 7:30) as John the Baptist was preparing the way. Are we acknowledging and accepting His Divine purpose with regard to life?
The writer of Hebrews encouraged. . .
“(17) So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, (18) so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.” (Hebrews 6:17-18 ESV)
The unchangeable character of God’s purpose means it is what shall be and our hope can be safely anchored there. Solomon declared “it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21 ESV) Therefore, it is His purpose we ought to remain mindful of as we are encouraged by His ability to fulfill all He has planned.
Have a great day PRAISING THE PURPOSEFULNESS OF GOD!
