Divine purpose was behind Creation and is behind the continued sustaining of life. When the time came for Jesus to fulfill His earthly mission, He did so with the Divine purpose in mind. Though there were many times Jesus touched others physically, it was the spiritual connection and need of mankind that was central to the path He walked. Preaching the good news of the kingdom in various towns was acknowledged by Him as a purpose for which He had been sent. (Luke 4:43) When standing before Pilate, Jesus acknowledged being a king was the purpose for which He had come into the world as He bore witness to the truth. (John 18:37)
In view of the mission of the cross, Jesus stated. . .
“(27) Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.” (John 12:27 ESV)
Our Lord’s walk on earth was not merely a meandering trek to see the sights. It was a journey with His focus fixed on the Divine purpose from which He would not be deterred. There was no plan B. It was the Will of the Father (Luke 22:42) all the way! May we be encouraged that this Divine purpose had our eternal salvation in mind!
Have a great day PRAISING OUR LORD FOR THE PURPOSEFUL PATH HE WILLINGLY WALKED!
