“Go for it!” Isn’t that often the advice of the world? “You want it? Go get it! You deserve it! You can get it! You ought to have it.” Thus, for many, goes the pursuit of happiness. But where is the happiness? Where is the joy? Where is the satisfaction? There must be some discernment and wisdom in seeing what to keep from and what to pursue.
The Psalmist stated. . .
“(11) Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. (12) What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? (13) Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.” (Psalm 34:11-13 ESV)
Do we desire life and to see good days? Then we should note what the psalmist stated from which we are to keep ourselves? The tongue used for evil and deceitful lips brings sorrow to our days! That use brings misery rather than blessing! Though some seem to think this will get them ahead, the reality is it will ultimately put them behind. The good they may have found was but for a moment. They soon realize they “got it” for “going for it”!
Tomorrow (Lord willing) we will consider this pursuit further. May we be discerning and wise in all our pursuits. Life comes a day at a time, each one seeming to build upon another. Has some stability been worked into each one? Good days have a marvelous way of breeding other good ones.
Have a great GOOD DAY!
