Rich Text Format (RTF) was popularized in the 1980’s enabling the sharing of files between users of different word processing programs. Saved in this format the document text retained the original format — bold print, italics, font size, indentation, etc. — when opened by another user.
Every time we open up the Scriptures, we are reading that which God’s providence has preserved for thousands of years. Throughout its pages, the Bible contains the rich text revealing God’s Divine Wisdom and Will for humanity. That rich text also provides insight into how He has provided guidance from the beginning of time and what He holds out as a promise for eternity.
With a view of what God had provided, the writer of psalm 119 stated. . .
“(14) In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches.” (Psalm 119:14 ESV)
Later on this psalmist also expressed. . .
“(162)I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil.” (Psalm 119:162 ESV)
Rich text! That is what the Bible contains! This is how David also focused on God’s law and precepts and the life benefit they provided (Psalm 19:7-9); seeing them to be desired more than even much fine gold. (Psalm 19:10) Therefore, we ought to read with an open heart to the Sovereign Will of God as it is His Word which has the power to truly enrich our life to be lived in the best manner possible and to ultimately lead us to the greater treasure above.
On what we most focus and consider to be of the most value to us is important to consider! Remember our Lord’s exhortation to. . .
“(19) Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, (20) but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. (21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21 ESV)
Does God’s Word truly delight our heart even more than the riches of the world? Lest we be enticed and drawn away by the perishing wealth of this realm, may we truly continue treasuring His Word with our heart experiencing great delight in His direction through this life toward the eternal treasure above!
Have a great day CONTINUING TO BE ENRICHED BY GOD’S WORD!
Carl
