This time of year is often noted as the “season of giving”. However, for some it seems to be the season for getting. Where is our focus? As the economy was recently addressed in the news, it was noted that many who are still in debt from last Christmas still plan to go into further debt for this one. Though purchasing will be made for others, is there mindfulness of what is most important? Someone has said, “Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have.”
The writer of Hebrews urged. . .
“(5) Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”” (Hebrews 13:5 ESV)
Where is our focus? Are we duly mindful of what we have? What marks our health? What about our relationships? What about the time we get to spend with those we love? What about the joy experienced in the opportunities of serving others? What about the hope and peace we have in Christ? We have received so much. (i.e. Ephesians 1:3) Are we focusing in a manner in which contentment can be found in that which money cannot buy?
In Christ, do we not have every reason for this to be the season of contentment? May the manner in which we go through this season — and every season of life — reveal how much we truly love the Lord for the unsearchable riches of His grace by which we have eternal hope!
Have a great day SEASONED BY GRATEFULNESS IN THE LORD!
