We hear. We see. We smell. We taste. We touch. Those are the experiences of the five senses we have been given. However, even beyond those senses our life can and should be impacted in a manner which may not make sense to some as our focus is fixed on the One Who created our senses. Faith in God is important because we can hear things, see things, be touched by things, and even smell a stench and get a bad taste in our mouth over some of the things going on in this world. Sensing such can cause us to wonder about the future and even begin to question God’s ability. It is our awareness and faith in God which provides the greatest constant to aid in pressing on.
It has been said, “Any faith that must be supported by the evidence of the senses is not real faith.” (A. W. Tozer)
Does this not bring to mind the words of the writer of Hebrews where we read. . .
“(1) Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1 ESV)
What we see around us tells us something about God (i.e. Romans 1:19-20) and the record of His actions through history also reveals truth relative to His power and timing. Because of Who He is, we put our faith in what we do not see because we know He is the One Who can fulfill it. That which is not presently seen but promised by God is where our faith needs to rest. Faith in God’s ability and faithfulness to fulfill His promises (i.e. 2 Corinthians 1:20; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 10:23) in spite of the world’s direction gives us the assurance we need to continue pressing on. May the truth of God continue to convict an abiding faith that provides a steadfast hope in His Sovereign ability to provide and so reveal to those around us how faith in the perfect God makes perfect sense!
Have a great day LIVING WITH FAITH’S FORWARD FOCUS!
