As John introduced the scene of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, he began by writing. . .
“(1) Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.” (John 13:1 ESV)
Jesus loved them then and to the end for which He came and to the eternity to which He would bring them. (John 14:2-3) He loved them with an everlasting undying love! Though the “sunshine” of Jesus’ love might have been somewhat hidden behind a cloud of confusion and wonder for the disciples when Jesus was crucified and his body placed in a tomb, the light of His love remained shining; it would never set! He Who was the Light of the world (John 8:12) would continue to shine and He shines still. Even while dying on the cross His undying gracious love prompted Him to ask forgiveness for those who did not know what they were doing. (Luke 23:34) As everlasting as the Lord is, so is His love! Are we duly appreciating the blessing of the Son-light of His love? May we live as children of the light and of the day (1 Thessalonians 5:5) as we continue soaking in the Son-light from above!
Have a great day IN THE WARMTH OF THE SON-LIGHT OF LOVE!
Carl
