Have you ever been hungry, found something quick to eat, but still felt empty or unsatisfied? Think of the soul not being fed that for which God created it. We live in a world where the appetite of many continues to draw them to the wrong things and spiritual starvation is the result.
One of the psalmists wrote with reference to God. . .
“(9) For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” (Psalm 107:9 ESV)
Jesus put it this way:
“(6) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6 ESV)
And to some who were too focused on physical bread, Jesus — before going on to note Himself as the “bread of life” (John 6:35) which came down from Heaven (John 6:33 & 51) that truly sustains — urged. . .
“(27) Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” (John 6:27 ESV)
Many of those who had been fed the physical bread were not as desirous of the spiritual food (teaching) Jesus offered and so turned away and followed no more. (John 6:66) What marks our appetite? With what are we desiring to be filled? May we develop a genuine hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God that we may experience the filling and satisfaction our soul needs!
Have a great day EXPERIENCING THE SOUL’S SATISFACTION FOUND SOLELY IN THE NOURISHMENT FROM GOD!
