God delivered His Son into this world through Mary. He was called “Immanuel — which means, ‘God with us’” (Matthew 1:23). What a special delivery to come onto life’s scene. Could there be anything more special than the delivery of the Messiah, the fulfillment of the promise made centuries before to Abraham? But as grand as all that was, it was still only the beginning of the special deliveries to come.
While John the Baptist was in prison, he sent messengers to Jesus to apparently confirm within His own mind that Jesus was without a doubt the Christ. Note the message Jesus sent back to John where we read. . .
“(4) And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: (5) the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. (6) And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”” (Matthew 11:4-6 ESV)
As Jesus walked this earth, we read incident after incident of the special delivery He brought into the lives of others. He delivered from the bondage of the flesh by His healing power. He delivered from the bondage of the teaching of the Jewish leaders by pointing to the pure message of God’s intent through the Law. The delivery of His teaching was special in the way it made sense and touched hearts, for He was the Master Teacher so different from those of that day. (note Matthew 7:28-29) He delivered from the bondage of guilt by directing the lost back to God rather than writing them off as worthless individuals. He delivered hearts from a focus of despair to that of hope by making clear He was the fulfillment of the prophecies eagerly anticipated regarding the Messiah.
What wonderful special deliveries! Oh, to have been there! Oh, to have witnessed the power! Oh, to have seen the joy overflowing from changed lives! Oh, to have heard the sweet voice of Jesus with my own ears as He delivered words of life and hope. And yet this too was not the end, but all the continuation of God’s desire to deliver!
Have a great day UPLIFTED BY THE SPECIALNESS OF GOD’S DELIVERIES!
