When we are considering making a purchase — big or small — we might first look at what is in our wallet or check to see what our bank balance is to ensure not depleting available funds. Knowing what we have aids in prioritizing purchases and so helps us to spend wisely. Fully aware of our balance brings balance to financial decision making.
Someone has said, “Time is the only currency you can spend without knowing your balance, so spend wisely.” (original source unknown)
Here is a different picture. Though we have been given life in daily doses and know the hours of a day available for our use, we do not know the full balance of our days. As James noted, life is like a mist that appears for a while and then vanishes. (James 4:14) This means we must give serious consideration to the use of the time of the present without knowing the full balance from which we will draw.
In his letter to Christians at Ephesus, Paul exhorted. . .
“(15) Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, (16) making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16 ESV)
The wise use of our time impacts many areas of our life. With only so much time in a day, activities and tasks must be prioritized. And not knowing the balance of our days or years we must be sure the time of the present is being spent wisely regarding our relationships and with regard to eternity. May we make the best use of our time by keeping the spending of it in balance with God’s Will in mind!
Have a great day SPENDING OUR LIFE WISELY!
