It has been stated, “The mighty oak was once a little nut that stood its ground.” Wow! A mighty oak! So big! So strong! Yet, it was at one time just a little nut. That means there is hope for me!
“A little nut that stood its ground”! Sometimes the world looks at those who stand their ground — those who will not sway from their convictions based on truth and those who will not go along with the flow of the crowd — as “nuts.” Paul was even accused of having gone out his mind by his much learning. (Acts 26:24) However, regardless of what we might be called, we must continue to stand. To do so there is the need to develop strong roots.
How well are we rooted? Solomon wrote. . .
“(3) No one is established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous will never be moved.” (Proverbs 12:3 ESV)
And Paul urged. . .
“(6) Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, (7) rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6-7 ESV)
Through keeping our roots planted in Christ and His righteousness, as well as through continuing to stand firm, we shall continue to strengthen and grow. And, yes, there’s hope for even a “nut”!
Have a great day STANDING YOUR GROUND LIKE A NUT!
