Stored away are the things of significance to people. They are the things people desire to stow away rather than throw away. Even if not being used presently the desire appears to do so eventually and so they are retained. This is what has made storage units big business. A quick internet search drew me to a statistic noting Americans spend $37.5 billion annually on storage. However, what is the real value of much that has been stored away? Although some of it may be worth treasuring, how much truly is worth retaining? Though it may be stored up for safekeeping, how much potential benefit is there really to the life of the one storing it?
As Jesus noted. . .
“(45) The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45 ESV)
According to Jesus, whatever is being treasured is that from which we will draw. Are we remaining mindful of “good treasure” being stored away and the significant benefit it has on our life as we draw from it?
Remember the words of the psalmist where we read. . .
“(10) With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! (11) I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:10-11 ESV)
Yes, here is storing up worth the investment because the priceless benefit is ultimately out of this world! Storing up God’s Word in our heart and mind provides something to be drawn from and utilized as we go through the varied activities and situations of life! It is an invaluable treasure from which to draw, unlocking the ability to live life that is truly life as we continue engaging in good and God glorifying works. (note 1 Timothy 6:18-19) May we store up the good treasure of God’s Word and so safeguard our life!
Have a great day PONDERING THE PREPONDERANT VALUE OF GOD’S WORD!
