As we considered yesterday: “When we reject God’s commands, what we are actually declaring is we think we have a better idea than God!” The truth is, my ideas are not always best! God’s ideas are always best!
The Psalmist wrote. . .
“(8) Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. (9) He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. (10) All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.” (Psalm 25:8-10 ESV)
All of God’s ways — each and every one of His commands — are all for my benefit and yours. Because God loves, He provides the counsel and direction we need for life. Because He is altogether faithful, we can depend on His ways to work out. Just as God’s essence is “good and upright”, so is the essence of every one of His commands. Since He is the originator of life and all creation, why would we think His ideas could not be counted on? Why would we ever reason that we would know better than He? The better way is to always accept His way!
