It is amazing what has been drafted on paper to then be built into a magnificent structure. Among many important aspects of the design is the consideration of the foundation, load bearing, materials to be used, functionality, as well as site and location. The aesthetics (the looks) are also generally worked into the design in the mind of the architect.
When we think of this world and the universe in which we live, let us remember the mind of the greatest architect behind it all; God, the creator of all things. (Psalm 136:4-9; Proverbs 3:19; Isaiah 42:5; Acts 17:24) He designed a suitable place for us to live presently in all its beauty and grandeur, but we are to understand there is something even greater designed for us eternally.
Writing to Christians at Corinth, Paul stated. . .
“(1) For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2) For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, (3) if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. (4) For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened — not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. (5) He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.” (2 Corinthians 5:1-5 ESV)
Presently we are tabernacling (tenting); dwelling in a temporary structure for this life. But something greater — a heavenly dwelling — is prepared for us above! (i.e. John 14:2-3; Hebrews 11:16) If we are not allowing God to do His building in our life, all our efforts will be in vain. (note Psalm 127:1; Philippians 2:13) However, having become that new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), His continuing work of transformation ultimately leads to the home prepared for eternity.
Understanding we are not home yet, let us live prepared for the home prepared above! Allowing God to reconstruct our life according to His design presently — back to the image we were intended to possess (Genesis 1:26-27) — let us press on as we look forward to what the greatest architect has designed for our eternity with Him!
Have a great day PREPARED BY GOD FOR THE PREPARED PLACE ABOVE!
Carl
