I’m a list maker. Putting things down on paper helps me to remember what needs to be done. Before going on a trip, going camping, heading out to Bible camp, going to a youth rally, or other events, I list what I need to take so I don’t forget anything. As I go through the routines of each day, on my daily calendar I list the things to be done — including my daily Bible reading — and mark them off as they are completed. Each day begins with a plan. Each day has goals to be accomplished. When my schedule is the fullest, the things listed are then prioritized to be certain the most important things do get done.
Recently I saw a post which read, “Today’s Goals: Start with God. Stay with God. End with God.”
Does that not sound like the best plan so that all else will fall into place with that priority? However, I might add that by living with such a focus we would then be prepared to rest with God through the night at the end of the day. When the focus on God remains central to our life, life will be lived on the foundation of truth in a manner which will continue to bring glory to Him.
Remember when Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, He responded. . .
“(30)And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30 ESV)
In other words, the focus of our entire being is to be engaged in loving God; our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength! By doing so we will move through each day God provides with Him and His Sovereign Will in mind. Since our life’s origin began with God and our eternity will end with God, may our goal remain fixed on Him and the upward call (Philippians 3:14) that is ours in Christ!
Have a great day WITH GOD!
