Translations: RSV

October 14, 2024 by TFT Staff

The Revised Standard Version was a translation in 1952 by some 15 men that were rather liberal in their viewpoints. Some things that could be translated in different ways were generally translated according to his own beliefs. In Romans 11:20, it reads, “…you stand only through faith.” The word “only” is not in the Greek and should not be in any translation; it is an indication of the translators’ theology. The word “immorality” is often used as a synonym for fornication. Another problem is its treatment of pronouns referring to Deity. Many times the RSV translators chose not to use the Old English form in references to Jesus, perhaps stating their opinions doubting the Deity of Jesus.  There are several places where a rendering reflects more of an interpretation than a translation. In Matthew 19:28, the word “regeneration” is translated as “new world.” This teaches the false concept of Premillennialism. This is an interpretation, not a translation.

No translation is perfect; a careful study of them should be made and screened for problems. Bible study cannot be approached casually. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah.” Isaiah 55:8”

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
