TRUST OR RUST!

June 8, 2023 by Carl Hanson

[06/08/2023 “teEn-MAIL”]

“Trust.” Where ours is centered will make a huge difference in our Christian walk. Something which recently came to mind as I was thinking about the word “trust” is that if the first “t” is removed we have “rust” which can become the picture of that which is left idle and unused. Even a gifted life can suffer decay and loss due to the lack of use. (i.e. Matthew 25:24-29) As has sometimes been said, “Use it or lose it.” However, is the trust merely in and of ourselves or are we duly trusting the sustaining power of God to live and serve as He desires us?

Israel was exhorted through Isaiah. . .

“(30) Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; (31) but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31 ESV)

Isaiah 40:31)

Are we active? Are pressing on? Are we trusting God’s power as we step out in living and serving to His glory and praise? Are we depending on His strengthening rather than our own? Human strength — even that of youth — has its limitations. Left to ourselves and our own estimation of our own abilities we can easily find ourselves floundering and lacking the strength or will to press on. However, in trusting God’s equipping and strengthening we may soar in ways we never imagined.

As Paul encouraged Christians at Ephesus. . .

“(20) Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, (21) to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV)

Can we wrap our faith around that and place our trust in God’s power at work? May we each remain open to the Sovereign Will of God working in and through our life as we trust in the equipping and strengthening He provides to uplift us in pressing on in it!

Have a great day ACTIVELY LIVING FOR OUR TRUSTWORTHY GOD!

                        Carl

Our Mission

Truth For Teens was originally a publication with a circulation of over 500 to youth throughout the United States.  This was possible because a group of men and women felt a need to provide healthy, helpful information to our youth as they deal with daily situations.

That need has not changed. The Central church of Christ at Pflugerville, Texas has decided to oversee this continuing, important ministry with this website and publication of a regular newsletter available to all teens around the world. We want the truth of God to be available as the “truth for teens” as well!
