Gifts given vary in size, cost, and significance. Among the things gifts tell us about the giver are their mindfulness of us and their ability to give. However, as we duly appreciate gifts others give to us and are genuinely thankful toward those individuals, understanding God is the giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17), are we growing in absolute trust in Him?
Someone has said, “The cross tells us once and for all that we can fully trust God.” (original source unknown)
Paul said it this way:
“(31) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (32) He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32 ESV)
Understanding God’s ability and willingness to provide the greatest gift (His own Son) to meet our greatest need (salvation of our soul), why would we doubt His ability and willingness to provide for any lesser need of our life? In noting how human parents know how to give good gifts to their children in providing for their daily needs (Matthew 7:9-11), Jesus encouraged, “how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11b ESV) Therefore, remembering our God is for us, in addition to the great gift of the Son, may we fully trust Him to graciously give us the good things we need!
Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY THE CROSS’S MESSAGE OF TRUST!
