If no truth, nothing matters. If is truth, something matters. Where is our focus?
Remember what Jesus declared where we read. . .
“(6) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6 ESV)
I would say that is quite consequential! According to Jesus the truth about truth is that there is truth and that truth matters! Since eternal salvation and access to the Father are through Him, that truth is of eternal consequence.
During His trial before Pilate, we find another significant declaration of Jesus where we read. . .
“(37) Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world — to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”” (John 18:37 ESV)
This indicates the importance of considering to whom we have turned our listening ear! That too is quite consequential!
Consider what else Jesus declared where we read. . .
“(31) So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, (32) and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” (John 8:31-32 ESV)
Associated with knowing the truth — embracing it through abiding in His word — comes true freedom; freedom from the sin that would otherwise enslave us. (John 8:36) To remain enslaved is the consequence of not accepting the truth, but in surrendering to it as the Lord’s disciples we gain the blessing of being free indeed!
Truth! It is! It is of consequence! May we experience the blessing of acknowledging and abiding in it!
Have a great day LIVING TRUE TO THE TRUTH!
