It has been noted that triumph only comes by adding some “umph” to our “try”. What marks our effort? Into what are we investing the “umph” of our focus for the benefit of positive life choices and how is that being reflected in both our actions and our words? Are we trying to put the needed “umph” into our faith focus?
Peter urged. . .
“(5) For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, (6) and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, (7) and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. (8) For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5-8 ESV)
Peter noted that through this “every effort” of increasing in “these qualities”, we will be moved into the success of effectiveness and fruitfulness as we are duly impacted by our knowledge of (and faith in) the Lord Jesus Christ. Looking to God Who has already provided what is sufficient for our growing in godliness (2 Peter 1:3-4), that is to be coupled with some “umph” from us. It will not merely happen by accident or on its own without diligently focusing there.
Someone has said, “Let’s decide to become the living example of triumph — with our words, actions, and life choices reflecting the majesty of His Kingdom, everywhere we go.” (shared by Tom Green) Yes, may the triumph of faith be evident in all aspects of our life as we “umphly” try to grow in living in accordance with the blessed will of God!
Have a great day PRESSING ON IN VICTORIOUS LIVING IN CHRIST!
