Though a teacher may love to teach, do their students love to learn enough to give their undivided attention? Significant things can be missed when the attention is divided. Specifics relating to a particular assignment might not be heard or crucial information for a test could be missed.
In one of David’s psalms, he stated. . .
“(11) Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. (12) I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. (13) For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.” (Psalm 86:11-13 ESV)
As David expressed his desire for God to teach him His way, David also asked God to unite his heart. Then he expressed giving thanks to God with his whole heart. Such marks the heart humbly open to the loving direction God provides.
What marks our heart as we read God’s Word? Do we read hoping to find merely our own desires being supported or do we sincerely seek His direction in what is truly best for our life? Acknowledging how great God’s love is in providing what we need (i.e. Psalm 103:11) — and that His wisdom is far above our own (i.e. Isaiah 55:8-9) — may we wholeheartedly seek God to unite our heart toward Him as we attentively respond to what He has prepared for our life presently and eternally!
Have a great day WITH AN ATTENTIVE HEART TOWARD GOD AND HIS WILL!
