I recently heard someone state something along the line of “None of us have received from God everything He would like to give us.” Think about that. This was not a reference to everything we might want, but what God truly desires for us to have. God is the great giver of all good and perfect gifts. (James 1:17) However, have we limited God? Have we chosen to not ask for or desire what He is willing and even eager to provide? If we need wisdom, have we failed to ask and so receive? (James 1:5) Have we been in need of strength and not looked to Him for it? Have we needed guidance and not been open to the guidance He offers? Would God withhold any of these good gifts as we ask, looking to Him in faith?
Someone has said, “The very nature of God is to have goodness in so much abundance that it overflows into our lives.” (original source unknown)
In view of the goodness of our Heavenly Father, Jesus encouragingly taught. . .
“(38) give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38 ESV)
I have long loved that picture. Unlike the cereal box that has a lot of empty space in the top of the box (as it was packaged by weight and some settling of contents is said to occur), God gives in good measure, pressed down and shaken together to fill every gap, and continues the pouring to overflowing. Though we are limited, God is unlimited in His resources to provide what we need. May we not limit this unlimited resource, but continue looking to Him in faith with openness to receiving what He desires to provide to sustain us both physically and spiritually through this life as He leads us on to the eternity our Lord has gone to prepare for us!
Have a great day REMAINING OPEN TO THE GOOD GIFTS OF GOD AS WE LIVE LIFE TO HIS GLORY!
