Where our focus rests will not only have a dynamic impact on how we live our life, that focus will also impact the way we talk about it. Someone has said, “Make it a habit to talk about blessings more than burdens. Where focus goes, energy flows.”
Does the focus of our speech bring us or others down? Or does it draw attention to a more hopeful and positive perspective of life? Though Paul experienced severe challenges in his ministry (note 2 Corinthians 11:23-28) — even the threat to his very life — he continued to press on in hope and speak with hope. (note 2 Corinthians 4:7-12) Paul went on to encourage. . .
“(13) Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, (14) knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.” (2 Corinthians 7:13-14 ESV)
Regardless of what Paul experienced, he never lost sight of His Heavenly hope! Therefore, by both the example of his life and by the words he used, he encouraged that steadfast faith in an everlasting hope in others. Sharing in the same faith and expressing it in the same words because we share the same hope aids in drawing both our own and the focus of others upward. Therefore, may the outflow of our speech remain indicative of the upward focus that compels our pressing on in hope!
Have a great day MINDFUL OF SPEECH THAT REVEALS AND ENCOURAGES HOPE!
